  • Sonja

    Sonja De Bruyn

    22 years of experience in Investment Banking and Investments in South Africa and internationally. The founder of Identity Partners, a Johannesburg based women led investment holding company that has operating businesses in Corporate Finance Advisory, Fund Management and Mining Resources. Sonja chairs the Mid-Market Fund at Ethos and contributes to the firm’s transformation activities. Ethos and Identity Partners have a Cooperation Agreement which encompasses a range of activities to bring more women and black professionals into the private equity space. Sonja also has over 15 years of experience as a Director of an array of high profile, listed corporations.

    David Forfar

    Head of the Oil and Gas Sector Group at Bowmans. Specializes in upstream oil and gas matters with a focus on Production Sharing Agreements, Concessions and Host Government Instruments and on regulatory and compliance issues in Africa. Between 2008 and 2012 David was a lead lawyer in negotiations on exploration and production rights in South Africa while working for Bowmans. Prior to this, David was based in Aberdeen, a global hub for the oil and gas industry. He was also an active contributor to the Aberdeen oil and gas community’s relationship with Mozambique and participated in several strategic initiatives at ministerial level in both Aberdeen and Maputo.

    GENERAL MANAGER
    Formerly with Total, PetroSA, Exxon and The Minerals Council (Chamber of Mines). Over 25 years of experience in public and government affairs, with more than 15 years involvement in various leadership roles in extractive industries including managing complex stakeholder issues.

    Daphne Mentor

    CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
    Over 20 years of accounting experience in the oil and gas sector. Prior to iMbokodo, Daphne held senior accounting positions at Pioneer Natural Resources South Africa followed by Anadarko South Africa. Daphne also served on the OPASA Tax and Finance Committee.

    Sean Anthony Lunn

    CHAIRMAN
    Served as the Chairman of OPASA for over five years. Former Country Manager SA and GM Namibia for Impact Oil and Gas. Prior to joining Impact, he was an experienced Investment Banker in the energy sector in London. Shareholder and Director of Sezigyn Ricocure (Pty) Ltd.

    Russ Berkoben

    41 years proven track record of successful management of comprehensive oil and gas exploration programs with ExxonMobil. He is highly proficient in latest technological exploration techniques, including the use of 2D and 3D seismic. Line manager seasoned in diverse overseas operations ranging from country entry level to successful drilling exploration wells in various operational environments. Established in managing people with a special talent for building a team of people in challenging multicultural environments.
